2 x Elizabeth Durack 1915 – 2000 i.The Whirlwind, Here-and-there Mixed media Signed mid right 91 x 63 cm This lot depicts a more resolved, worked up version of the cover illustration for the Western Australian literary classic of the same title by Mary and Elizabeth Durack. First published 1941 by Consolidated Press. It tells of the story of Nungaree and Jungaree and their search for their brother who was stolen by the Whirlwind, ‘Here-and-there’. Page 21 also depicts a very similar work, as a colour tipped in plate. The image caption reads, ‘he would come twirling and twisting in his spiral elfin dance.’ ii.
