Hertha nach Ost-Asien und den Sudsee-InselnI; verso blank; the right-hand print is slightly paler that the left-hand one, but both are in very good condition with few tiny surface marks; the mount is clear and stable. This photograph of four Noongar people at the entrance to their dwelling was taken in 1876 by Gustav Riemer, the paymaster of the German ship S.M.S. Hertha, during it’s visit to the Western Australian port of Albany. In 1878 Riemer published a photographic album of the voyage, Tagebuchs-Auszug betreffend die Reise S.M.S. 8.5 x 17.5cm
