West New Britain. Longest: 91; W: 7.5; D: 2.5 cm. Carved from dense hardwood and mounted on custom display stands, each scoop features an elongated handle terminating in subtly differentiated finials. The handles vary in form—some attenuated and spare, others incorporating geometric or anthropomorphic detailing—reflecting individual carving traditions within a shared ceremonial framework. All four examples exhibit a deep, dark patina consistent with prolonged handling and exposure to smoke within enclosed ceremonial structures.
