3. Bill Wallace Wooden Okinui Surfboard

1956. This hollow wooden surf board was possibly the first made in Australia. 10’3" X 23 ½". Excellent original condition.

After watching a display by the American surfers on their balsa boards put on for the Melbourne Olympics, 

Bill went straight home and made one. Because balsa was not available in Australia he manufactured one from hollow ply. 

Previous to this all our surf boards being manufactured were of the 14 – 18’ toothpick style.

4. David Frame Balsa Mal

C. 1950’s. 8’10" X 22". At 19 years of age he ordered the Burmese Balsa, purchased the glass and matting at Artarmon, 

Sydney and shaped this beauty. Immaculate condition, totally original.

C.1959/60. Epoxy resin, this board was 132nd off the mould. Very good condition. It has the classic "D" fin and is 9’6" X 21"

 and is extremely heavy.

18. Rick Surfboards Single Fin

1968. Round tail 7’10" x 24". Wave set fin box. Clear foam construction. Made by Rick Stoner, Bing’s old partner. 

He broke away from the partnership in 1961. A recognised surfboard builder and lifeguard. He was one of the pioneers.

1968. A popular model by the legendry Phil Edwards.

9’5 ½" X 22", square tail, single stringer, large raked fin.

20. OLE Olson Twin Fin

1961. 8’11" X 21 ½". Built in 1961 by Bob, he remembers only making one of these, one of the first ever twin fins. 

Double glass on fins and black stripes with OLE logo. Fully restored.

21. Nipper Williams, David Treloar model

1969. By David Treloar from an era when Nipper ruled Brookvale and Baddy was Manley’s biggest charger.

7’ x 21", plain bottom with yellow and purple inset deck, surround by green pinstripe. Long raking fin with waveset finbox.

1968. 8’6" X 24". Single fin square tail with V bottom. This has a "doily" full slipcheck spray deck. W.A.V.E.

23. McTavish Morey-Pope Flextail

1968. 6’5" X 20". The only one of its kind in existence, shaped by Bob in 1968, was a McTavish interpretation

28. Tom Blake Paddle Board

1946. By the Catalina Equipment Company of Los Angeles. Tom Blake was a forerunner of surfing design and is 

credited with being the first person to put fins on surf boards. A champion athlete he was a fine surfer, swimmer and board paddler, 

having won many titles at the three pursuits, both in Hawaii and America.

16’ long and of a hollow design with ribs inside.

29. Swimm Boats Balsa by Shepherd & Daniels

1958. 7’ X 19", totally original. Shaped by the legendary Bob Shepherd, because of its small size this superb 

balsa was made as a girl’s board. Double redwood stringers offset, with high density foam fin. Aircraft fibreglass. 

These boards were only made for a 2 year period at the end of the balsa era in the late 50s and this is one of the cleanest 

ones still in existence. All original, untouched, unrestored.

31. Hollow Wooden Toothpick

C. 1949. Owned by Alan Millar of Kirra SLSC. Was Australian and State champion in the 1940’s and 50’s.

36. Hobie "Leroy Ah Choy" model

1968. 7’6" X 22". A very rare desirable Hobie Leroy Ah Choy model, transition shape.

 Unique in that it has a "tri-plane" bottom with a flat pintail planning surface and a V tail. 

Yellow tint top and bottom with English racing green rails. Large Hobie Ah Choy laminates and designated Hawaii model. 

W.A.V.E. Set in fin box with superb removable fin. Leroy was one of Hawaii’s top competitors throughout the 60’s and is credited 

with introducing the now popular Stand Up Paddle board in Waikiki. Very few of these models were made and rarely will you 

find one in this good original condition.

37. Hobie Corky Carroll "Straight Arrow" Flextail

1969. 7’9" X 20". Following the George Greenough revolution, this was Corky’s version of a regular straight arrow model with 

adapted scooped out deck and fully flex tail. This was a one off design and the only board of its kind made by Hobie. 

Corky was a multiple US title winner.

41. Greg Noll "Da Cat" Model

1967. 8’10" x 23". Greg Noll linked up with "Da Cat", Mickey Dora, the controversial Prince of Malibu in 1966.

 It is said that Mickey had Reynolds Yater make him a Yater Spoon, so Mickey immediately took it to Greg to create his new model. 

Several unique features are the thin step deck, double channelled bottom, and the butterfly graphics hidden in the nose patch.

This is a rare example because of its 8’10" length.

45. Gordie "Middleweight" with "Nose fin"

1967. 9’8" X 23". Towards the end of the long board era, anything went for design. This Gordie model featured a unique 

"nose fin", that as the copy stated, "provides the aggressive surfer with full range control". This board has all the bells and whistles, 

step deck, floral pattern designs on deck, coloured foam T-band stringer and tail block, green tint bottom and lap with green tint 

fibreglass fin and of course the "nose fin". Original glass job.  This board was the featured board from the 1967 Gordie promotional advertisement.

49. Dale Velzy Gidget Foam Board

1962. 9’3" x 21". Great original condition.

During the early 60’s Dale Velzy was recognised as the most prolific board manufacturer. 

This particular board was basically a stock Velzy with a ¾" redwood stringer and high density foam fin. 

What makes this board unique is that it was adapted for use as a prop board for the Gidget series. 

In particular for, Gidget Goes to Waikiki. Signed by Velzy it has had all dings and dents repaired, glossed 

and polished. An interesting piece of Hollywoods Surf history.

50. Cordingley Pintail

1968. Original unrestored example of a '68 model Pintail Custom by Cordingley Surf Shop in Western Australia.

8' x 23", stringerless, with a domed vee bottom and a long flexy Greenough style fin.

Boards like this are much better left original. Not perfect but good condition.

52. Bunker Spreckels "The Fish"

1969. Shaped by Rick Value, 7’7" long. Bunker Spreckels known as "Surfing’s divine prince of decadence" was on the outer reaches 

of the design curve back in the late 60s. "The Fish" represents that, with its full length concave and "dolphin tips" tail. Shaped by 

Bunker’s room mate, Rick Value, it features psychedelic airbrush, balsa nose blocks, and dolphin fin. Designed for lift and speed. 

According to Value, Bunker loved this board at Tunnels on North Shore of Kauai and was part of the alternative design crew that included: 

Vinny Bryan, John Riddle, Ben Farris, and Brian Kennelly.

A truly remarkable model that design wise was way ahead of its time.

53. Bobby Brown Malibu

C. 1966. 9’2" x 22 ½" x 3" thick. A legendary surfboard rider who was one of the finalists in the 1964

 World Titles and certainly the youngest rider there. According to Dave Smith, this was one of only 5 or 

6 that he actually shaped before his death and also contained his hand and foot print that was placed when 

the laminate coat was applied. Longer than most of his other boards, which were generally around 8’6".

2004. Single fin with finned rails at tail. This art board was made as a fundraiser for Tsunami victims. Great artwork, 

all hand painted on foam blank. It has the trademark, Tony Dragan fin, designed for less drag. 7’2" x 19 ½".

61. Dick Van Straalen Rocket Fish

2006. A twin fin fish from Dick Van Straalen at Burleigh Heads with an original airbrush job by Jim Davidson.

Built as a special display model in 2006 it is still in brand new condition and measures 6' x 20", 

and would make a great rider or a piece of artwork to hang on the wall.  (Fins not included)

62. Dick van Straalen Aluminium Thruster

C. 2003. 5'6 X 19" shaped by Dick van Straalen for Dave Rastovich as one of a pair used in the filming of Blue Horizon by Jack McCoy. 

Coolite type foam core with a covering of high grade marine aluminium and double strength aluminium rails. 

This is number two of the pair, Dick is keeping number one. Apparently too expensive to put into production.

70. Blitz by Darryl Miller

1981. 5’10" X 20". Double flyer swallowtail single fin with channel bottom. Blitz were the dominant 

brand for several years in the Tweed Coast area covering Byron north to the border, and were the 

brainchild of Fingal surfing identity Darryl Miller. This is a fantastic example of the style just before the thruster

 took over. Has a period spray by the legendary Jim Davidson.

1981. 5’10" X 20". Double flyer swallowtail single fin with channel bottom. Blitz were the dominant 

brand for several years in the Tweed Coast area covering Byron north to the border, and were the

75. UFO Erle Pedersen Surfboard

1975. Has the original two-tone timber fins. A very small fin at the back and then a larger one, 

as well as the big fin. The deck is spooned out like a Greenough.

6’7"x17", shaped by Erle Pedersen. Illustrated, "Tracks", front page, October 1975.

Good condition, not perfect, dings repaired.

76. A Winged Swallow Tail

1976. 6’8"x 19".  This extremely unusual board has an almost squid-like shape. The front half is almost 

conventionally shaped except for some sharp concave on the rails in the middle. It then narrows to approximately 

 1/3 of its width and forming a swallow tail with fins on the very ends of the tail. It also has a larger centre fin.

78. Michael Peterson 80’s Model Single Fin

1980. 6'2" X 20", flyer area pin single fin shaped by Michael Peterson and signed by MP in pencil on the foam.

This board is in amazing condition and is a rare find.
Condition: Totally original, not a restoration.

1983. 5’ 10 ½" X 20 ½". Original zapper model in very good condition, featuring the wing keel. (Fin not illustrated but provided).

80. Lightning Bolt shaped by Mark Richards

1982. 7’2" long. This was Mark Richard’s personal board that he rode in the 1982 Pipeline Masters. 

Features lightning bolts top and bottom with Mark’s personal sprayed fluorescent orange and green stripes. 

Oversized "MR" logos, white glass on fin and inscription "Rapid Transit", "Sept 82". This board was donated to 

the Honolulu Hard Rock Café where it hung for over 20 years. Signed by Mark and stating that he bought the blank in the 

USA,  took it to Australia, shaped, coloured and glassed it before returning to Hawaii. He credits the board in part, for winning 

his 4th World Title.

C. 2005/6. This is a replica model, 4 of only 6 constructed derived from one of Bob’s original boards that he 

pioneered at Noosa Point. Featuring the tartan patch that he had on that particular board, it was hand shaped by 

Bob and put out as a special series.

C. 2008. This is a replica of the board that Joe made for Phyllis O’Donnell with which she won the 1964 world titles 

held at Manly. Signed by both Joe and Phyllis this board is 9’ X 21". It has the classical "D" fin of its era and is a clear 

board with 4 black pinstripes. Phyllis, by winning this competition became Australia’s first World surfing champion.

107. Joe Larkin Balsa Gun

Limited Edition Signature Series

C. 2005. 10’ X 22". A beautiful balsa replica by master craftsman Joe Larkin, who made his first board in 1949.

Having Australian cedar stringers, nose and tail blocks and timber fin. The balsa used is the finest New Guinean 

timber, and the finish is exceptional.

109. Greg Noll Gun

C. 1995. 11’4" x 23" wide, this single stringer "D" fin gun is a replica of the board Greg rode when he 

surfed, what was supposedly the biggest wave ever at the time, at Outside Pipeline. It was captured for

immortality by the famous photo taken by John Sevenson, the eminent film maker. The photo depicted Greg 

with his back to the camera looking out across 3 massive shore break waves, while waiting for a lull to be 

able to paddle out. This board was shaped by Greg as a favour to a friend in the 90’s.
